LOBBYIST / LEGISLATIVE ADVOCATE

Qualifications:

• 2 – 4+ years of any combination of prior lobbying experience, legislative staff, state agency legislative liaison responsibilities, LAO or DOF post.
• Demonstrated experience with CA legislative cycle, deadlines and state budget process.
• Strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, organized and detail oriented.
• Sound ethical base.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to formulate strategic, creative approaches to achieve client objectives.
• Ability to travel, principally in California, and valid CA driver’s license.
• Bachelor’s Degree required, JD or advanced degree preferred.

Professional Responsibilities:

• Work with clients on objectives and develop and execute strategies toward success.
• Implement client-approved political action plans, including meeting with elected officials and staff, testifying in legislative committees, and building coalitions to achieve desired outcomes.
• Monitor and report on legislative and regulatory developments impacting clients.
• Lead regularly-scheduled and as-needed meetings with clients.
• Analyze legislation and regulatory proposals and summarize potential impacts for clients.
• Create recommended client position letters for client approval to employ on legislation and regulations.

Compensation:

• Competitive salary depending on experience $75,000 – $150,000+)
